Let's Be Honest

When I first made this blog, I promised myself it was going to be something I would keep up to date with, even though I knew myself that it would be only a matter of time before I fell behind on it. I guess this is why I've titled this post as "Let's Be Honest". I think in general, we tend to put our lives on hold or generally hold ourselves back ( unintentionally) by not giving the unknown a chance or giving up before we really even begin and hey, in the spirit of keeping things honest, it is probably my worst trait... alongside not having enough belief in myself and  forever doubting my capabilities. So I thought, why not share this with possibly only two ( maybe more, maybe less) people who may be reading this blog. WAKE UP AND SEIZE THE DAY PEOPLE! life doesn't wait for anybody. Seconds turn into minutes, turn into hours, turn into days, turn into YEARS....! Why are you pressing pause? Go to that new restaurant you saw in town yesterday, buy those trousers that you fell in love with at New Look, spend more time with your friends and family! DON'T spend your whole life on the gadget that turns you into an anti-social nincompoop. Watch a movie and actually take in the colours and the visuals behind the basic story line. When listening to music, FEEL that bassline as it comes to life through your headphones. People tend to live their lives through tunnel vision, focusing on what applies and directly affects them. Step outside of your comfort zone and talk the person sitting next to you on the bus, give the stranger crying at the bus stop a hug or a smile. Nothing gives me greater joy than to dive into conversation with a complete stranger, listening to their stories and hearing them describe their pain. We as a generation need to wake up and stand up and start becoming honest with ourselves and question why and how we have become the somewhat lazy, standoffish, technology obsessed people we are today. How about next time you take the train, you put down your phone and offer the person sitting next to you a simple "hello". I dare you!

Love yourself!

We tend to put ourselves down a hell of a lot. Our clothes don't look right, we don't feel like we fit in, if we all had friends that treated us to the same way we treat ourselves, they wouldn't be our friends for long, as Mike Kramer pointed out in a post which I will LINK HERE!. Why is it that we feel the need to stop being ourselves and be more like others? That constant voice in our minds has more power than we know. There is no harm in trying to better your self as a human being but some of us tend to take it so far, limiting ourselves from what could be an amazing opportunity or the chance to live life without a care...trust me, I KNOW!
We are surrounded by different people who are all gifted and talented in their own right. But why is it that we feel that we need surpass what they have achieved? We are on our own unique journeys in life... nobody knowing where they will end up in the next few years (unless you are some sort of magician or have planned your whole life, step by step, down to a tee.) Don't you think it is time you love yourself a bit more..? Maybe if you got rid of that NIGGLING voice in your head, who knows, you could accomplish something, anything your heart desires.

I DARE you to be confident in who you are and what you believe in. It only takes one person to take the leap for the rest of the world to follow.

Love,

Motivational quote anyone?

"When you're different, sometimes you don't see the  millions of people who accept you for what you are. All you notice is the person who doesn't."

A Bit About Me...

Hey there,

My name is Merraf and I am an 18 year old student studying English lit, Sociology and ICT at A Level. My main interests are music, TV (HOLLYOAKS IS LIFE!) and YouTube. I have often thought about making a blog as -to my friends annoyance- I feel the constant need to raise my views about topics -some serious some not so much- and events that surround me. Most of the time I talk complete nonsense but then again who doesn't....occasionally?

Taking music GCSE played a big part in m falling in love with music. This was also when I discovered my one and only talent, being able to sing! One reason as to why I started a blog is to help raise my confidence so that in due time I can post videos of me singing on YouTube as well as the odd make up tutorial!

If you have made it this far...GREAT! Make sure that you keep up to date and feel free to ask for any reviews that you would like for me to do.

Yours sincerely,

Merraf x
